Crucified With Christ

Galatians 2:20 (NIV) -

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

I had a thought the other day. 2000 years ago, the Romans crucified Jesus on a cross. What did they gain from that? An innocent man, dead... there may not have been any loss for them, but there wasn't really a win either. They got nothing from His death.

However, because they did, something amazing happened. Ever since, whenever someone chooses to believe that Jesus was the Son of God who died for their sins, then repents, they crucify Him all over again. The difference is, they crucify themselves alongside Him and receive freedom, salvation, and eternal life in return.

The Romans did it and gained nothing. We do it, and we gain everything. Let's not waste that gift by continuing to walk in sin, which leads to death. Today, make the decision to crucify yourself with Christ, die to the way you once lived, and walk the way he has called you to.
