Philippians 4:6 (NIV) -
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Yesterday I discussed how we must continue submitting ourselves to God in order to overcome sin. However, our sins aren't the only things that we are told to submit to God. This verse encourages us to also present our requests - in other words, our worries, burdens, the things that weigh on our minds and our hearts - to God.
When we do, take a look at the promise that comes right after: "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Php 4:7 NIV)
God doesn't promise that the situations we are in will change, but He does assure us that He will give us peace and help us to trust Him in the middle of them.
The next time you're struggling with something, try bringing it to God in prayer and let Him have his way, instead of trying to handle the situation yourself. After all, God knows what's best for us, and as Paul reminds us in Romans, "we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." (Rom 8:28 NLT)
Bless you Brother
